2 cups of sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
1 cup of butter
1/4 cup of sweetened cocoa powder
1 cup of Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut
1/2 cup of buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp of vanilla extract
For the Glaze
1/2 cup of butter
1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup of Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut
4 cups of sifted powdered sugar
Start by preheating your oven to 350° and greasing a 9×13” pan.
Next, mix together 2 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.
In a saucepan, over medium-high heat, melt 1 cup of butter, 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup of Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut and 1/2 cup of buttermilk. Melt all ingredients together and bring to a boil. Then remove from heat and whisk into the dry ingredients. Then add 2 eggs and 1tsp of vanilla extract. Mix well, then pour into the greased pan and bake for 30 minutes.
Once the cake is cooked, remove from the oven and start making the glaze. To make the glaze melt 1/2 cup of butter, 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup of Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut. Bring all ingredients to a boil, then remove from heat and add 4 cups of sifted, powdered sugar. Whisk well, making sure there are no lumps, then pour over the cake.
Let this Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut Chocolate cake set for as long as you can.
I know it’s hard to wait, especially when you smell this one baking… but when it’s ready, and you’re ready, serve it up and enjoy!
What inspired this Chocolate Cake Recipe?
Years ago, my family and I were out to dinner and were tempted to order a Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake for dessert that would eventually blow our minds. For years, I’ve had such fun recreating that cake and enjoying to sweet flavors of ‘America’s Favorite Soda’ baked into a moist rich and fudge filled chocolate cake! When I saw Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut at our local grocery store, I was intrigued and thought I’d try making that same cake with this new flavor-filled soda… and WOW! The coconut flavor paired so well with the Chocolate Cake and made the Chocolate Glaze on top of the cake even more rich and delicious!
